About Our Class
Team Teaching Model:
Since Mrs. Diemand and I are team teaching, I will cover the subjects of Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Additionally, I will also teach spelling and printing to my homeroom class.
This allows both of us to teach to our strengths, thus providing two classes with solid experiences in all subject areas.
Curriculum
Below is a table outlining the curriculum I will teach for the whole year.
Although I have listed them monthly on the chart, I do follow this exact timeline.
For example, some years the air unit takes longer to teach, so I might go into October before I finish it.
You will notice that June has “Buffer” written in the math and science section.
That is because the timeline shifts down throughout the year giving me just enough time to get everything covered.
There are also “extras” that appear each year.
I cannot predict what they will be, since they are excursions generated from the class.
As we study various topics, kids get interested in different aspects of them.
We often have new projects and lessons based on this interest, but it changes each year.
These excursions also make it difficult to have a predictable timeline.
Use the table as a guide and rely on the newsletters to keep you up to date on where we are in the curriculum.
